So DH got a call on Friday from the manager at Bentley. The manager, call him Tony, said that he wasn't going to be able to get DH in for an interview with the Director because he too busy and is out at their new site they are opening up downtown. But, Tony said, he would bring the top three candidate resumes to the Director and have him look at them (and push for DH). Then, Tony asks, "would you be able to start tomorrow?" Uh, hello, what are you crazy? I only met with you once, we briefly talked about money and numbers and expectations, and you want me to just blindly walk into this dealership with your "word" that all you have told me will fall in place and be given to me? Uh, nope. I am not going to do this again.
So DH said that he would like to have some numbers down on paper and discussed further. And Tony was like, "oh...um...OK." What the heck does that mean? Oh? Don't you want to know that what I put down on my resume is true and good. Don't you want to be sure that I will be a good fit with your employees and Director. Don't you want to be sure that I will hold true to my promises and word?
It sounds like this guy just wants a body to fill the position right now. And if that means offering great salary numbers, with hopes of flex hours a month or so from now, and that this is a great growing company...just to find someone to fill the spot...I got news for you, I am not that guy.
See, DH was really screwed over at the last place he was at. They promised him salary and commission and the world, and they never came through and fought him to the end. Such BS. And now DH does not really feel like walking onto that boat again. Especially if that means risking giving up his Unemployment just to find out that the company is going to screw him and pay him less, work him more, etc. What is to say that a month from now, after he isn't receiving the pay they promised and is working 80+ hours a week, that his hiring boss isn't going to walk out leaving him to deal with incompetent directors and owners and fighting tooth and nail to get what he was promised when he was hired.
Uhg. Such a pain. Such a frustration.
We are waiting for a call back today/tomorrow to see what they have to say. DH is asking to meet with the Director, or at least another member of management or at least a co-worker to talk with them. He is also asking for an agreement in writing. And, hopefully to negotiate the vacation time. I mean, really, wouldn't you think a good employer would want to be sure the person he is hiring "fits" with the group and company. I think that shows responsibility, not to mention the sign of good management.
So, we will see where this goes. There are no other options going on right now. It is kind of depressing. Financially, we are doing OK and could do this for awhile longer if needed. But just makes cash tight and the future of a new house and another baby dim right now. God has his plan though...
Tonight...Pumpkin carving with the kid. Her first experience with the oooeeey, goooeeey pumpkin filling and seeds. Can't wait.
Enjoy the rest of your day

Yuck! That does sound fishy. He's definitely going about this the right way though. Don't settle at all!
I hope pumpkin carving goes well. That sounds like alot of fun! I expect some pictures. ;)
Something certainly isn't right.....I agree that they are most likely just looking for a warm body to fill a position. Hopefully, they will realize that your DH is serious and will follow through and soon he will have a wonderful new job!
Can't wait to see pictures from the pumpkin carving! And BTW - I love your little slide shows on the side :-)
