Still?

Yes, still after the tubes (put in 3 weeks ago), Miss J continues to get infected ears. Ugh... I noticed on Sunday that she has some liquid sitting in her ear. So I took a safety q-tip and cleaned it out. Yuk. Kind of yellowy. Then I noticed it also on Monday, but thought I would wait another day to see if it cleared up or if it was just draining. You know, because one of the purposes of the tubes was to help the ear drain. But, I called the nurse Tuesday and asked her about it. She thought we should come in to see the nurse practitioner.

Ugh...another visit.

Especially since we had just been there a week ago for her well visit. And I specifically asked if maybe she could have an ear infection because she had been waking up in the middle of the night and that was our only way of knowing before that she had an ear infection. Nope, the doc didn't see anything. Then shortly after that she started getting a runny nose...and well...here we are.

Luckily the nurse called me back and said that we didn't have to come in, but that she prescribed an ear anti-biotic and that if it didn't look like it was getting better in a couple days, to call for an appt. At least that saves us a trip.

So the anti-biotic...yeah...$40. That was 4-prescriptions of the oral anti-biotic. Wow...couldn't believe it. And I won't even tell you how much her surgery would have been had we not had insurance. Wow...what do those without insurance do? I would go broke.

So last night we put the drops in her ear. Yea, she screamed. They must have burned (however when dad did it this morning she didn't scream). Then we gave her some Tylenol runny nose and cough hoping she would sleep through the night without waking up sniffling and hurting.

2:30 am...up crying and wining. Tried to let her cry herself back to sleep a bit...but she wouldn't. So I went in there and she was standing up leaning against the crib wall with her head resting on the bar like she was sleeping...but she was crying and talking. So I tried to lie her back down...wouldn't have it. I picked her up to rock a bit...she was talking and playing with her hair. Finally I said, if you aren't going to go back to sleep I am going to put you back in your crib. So I did and she rolled over and went to sleep. I think maybe the cold medicine made her act a little weird and wake up.

3:00am...up again crying. Went back in there, gave her some water (thinking her throat might be dry from the medicine) and put her binky in, lay her back down...and she cried. I went back to bed and let her cry...not even 2-minutes and she was out. Until 7am. Whew.

I will say that getting up at 3am is better than 4am (which she has been doing consistently for the past 10-days). At least once I fall back asleep after 45 minutes I get more than 15 more minutes of sleep.

She was in such good spirits though this morning. I like her like that. Makes me laugh and smile. Her nose seemed good and her ears not so drainy...but we will see tonight.

I just wish I could get a good night sleep. I am beat and can't seem to catch up.

Vegas is in 1-week...I truly am looking forward to it. I know it will go fast, but just the time off will be a relief and nice to be away with hubby. I will probably talk about this every day until we go. So I hope you don't get bored with it.

Anything else...oh yeah, I scheduled a massage and pedicure (with the nice gift certificate that DH gave me for my birthday) for Saturday. I REALLY need a massage...and I thought the pedicure would be nice for our trip. I hope it doesn't chip and peel right away. Sometimes they do when you get them done at a salon. I don't know why, but when I do them myself...I have NO problems...they last for weeks. But the salons...usually less than a week and they are peeling. Hmmm. Anyway...much need of the relaxation and pampering.

Pedicures were my treat when I was pregnant with Miss J. Once you can't bend to reach your toes, and it is summer, and you are wearing sandals...you need someone to do your toes. That was nice...and will probably pick up that habit again this summer.

We also have a resale to go to on Saturday. It is held by the mothers of twins and triplets and is a huge field house of stuff...so my mom and I are going to get some maternity stuff and new toys for Miss J. Should be fun. Then I have to go through summer clothes to see what fits and what I need to bring for our trip. Did I say that it is going to be 80 degrees and beautiful while we are there??? Yipee!!

OK, enough bragging...just felt I should post since I don't have much going on and no one else seems to have really updated since yesterday. I will leave you now...

Have a good Wednesday!!

How fun that you are headed to Vegas! The weather was great when we were there. I came home to snow, unfortunately.

Hope you catch up on your sleep soon! I'll say a prayer for the little one!
