I found this in my old "nest" blog from September 2006, when Miss J was born. It was really interesting to read some of the posts leading up to this day too...I think I found a bit of relief since I was only 1cm dilated for 3 weeks prior (just like I am now) and then the weekend she was due it just started to move...I think it helped me come to terms that it may be another week or so before baby boy decides to come. 11-days left...so patience lady, patience.

Wanted to announce our new baby girl!!
JEP was born on September 3rd at 3:34pm. She was born at 8lbs 4oz and 19.5in long.
Baby, mom, and dad are all doing wonderful and recovering very, very well. We come home from the hospital on Tuesday.
I started having more severe and more regular contractions on Saturday afternoon, as I sit outside to get some sun and read a non-baby book. Then when hubby got home around 6pm, we started timing them and they were coming every 3-5 minutes and were getting a bit stronger. So we called the doc who told me to take a shower, get myself together and head to the hospital to get checked out.
So, about 10pm we headed in to be checked and I was still only 1-2cm dilated. But, the monitored me for about an hour or two, had me walking around, monitoring my contractions (every 3-5 minutes and lasting 45sec or so), monitored the baby's heart rate, and then checked me again. Still at 1-2cm. But, the checked me into the hospital anyway to stay, started me on an IV, and gave me some pain medications...after hours of me struggling with the constant, ongoing pain. Girls...I really thought I would be able to do all this with no or very little pain meds. I was banking on the breathing techs and yoga I have been doing during pregnancy. But, I will tell you, after 4 hours of constant severe contractions I gave in. And I am glad I did. I was finally able to get some rest, without having to do that heavy breathing every 5 minutes.
They checked me again in the morning and I was still only 1-2 cm dilated...so then we moved onto the Epidural so that I could get some pitocyn to so we could get me more dilated. So around 8am they put the epidural in (oh, that was a little uncomfortable!!) and whooo hooo, no pain what so ever. All I could really feel were the tightening of my stomach (like a braxton hicks contraction). My legs were completely numb and I was able to rest again.
So around noon, grandma's and grandpa's all stopped in to see how I was doing and I was only at 3cm. We told them it would be awhile so they could stop over to our house and hang out with Bella if they wanted.
About an hour later I was at 8cm, then another hour 9cm, then at about 3pm I was at 10cm and ready to start pushing. Wow, that went fast.
Baby was born at 3:34...I was so glad the pushing did not take that long, it was very quick and smooth...and AMAZING. Oh my gosh, could not believe that beautiful baby came out of me. I won't go into too much detail...but it was the most amazing thing I think I have ever experienced.
She is sooo beautiful. At first, when she crowned...the doc said “she has black long hair”, and I said “nooooo, she is supposed to have blonde hair like her mommy!!” So that was a huge surprise. Now that she is born, she doesn't have black hair, it is more like light brown with blonde streaks...very pretty...and very long.
She is so precious...I will post pictures later in the week when we get home and are able to download the pictures from our camera.
Thank you all for your prayers (and patience) while I was anxiously awaiting her birth. The turning point was definitely when I was able to relax a bit and not think so much about baby stuff. I had a half glass of wine on Thursday and Friday evenings and read non-baby books to keep my mind occupied. I truly think that is what worked...plus your prayers. So, thank you girls.
I will post again some time this week! Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. I know I did!!

Awww! Isn't it great to look back and read how things went with #1! i read Ali's birth story from time to time, and it seems so long ago yet seems just like yesterday at the same time. I can't wait to see pictures of the new little man! And, I can't wait to hear how things go for you this time around!
That was so awesome to re-read that post. :o) A lot of the stuff I remember reading before but it's like watching an old favorite movie - it doesn't matter how many times you watch it, it's still your favorite. I think posts like that will never get old. :o) I can't believe you only have 11 days left! That's crazy. This pregnancy seemed to fly by. Pretty soon we will be reading the birth story of your son! Take care! :o)
