Karate

OK, if this baby karate kicks my stomach one more time I am going to kick him back!!! It hurts today. Whatever he is doing is really starting to cause me to flinch and screech "eeeoooo." Co-workers are beginning to wonder what is wrong with me.

It really feels like he is taking his nails and scratching them on the inside ot my stomach. Ugh... I don't know which is worse, this or the kicking me in the side of my ribs toward the back. That is what he decided to be doing Saturday night when we were at a wedding reception. Could have had something to do with the really strong cup of black coffee I had after dinner (like European strong!!). But in any case, I told DH to put his hand on my side, and lo and behold he kicked and DH looked at me with these big bewildered eyes!! Uh, yeah honey...that was YOUR Son!!!

DH called at lunch time and it sounds like so far so good at his new place of work. "Slow paced" was his exact words, though not complaining. Just a change from the fast paced go go go environment where he is used to. Maybe half the customers he is used to, and he is going to be the only writer. His boss seems pretty even keeled and seems so far like a good place to be. Yay!!

I went to the chiropractor at lunch, and on my way back to work I realized...I get to have dinner with my daughter AND my husband, TOGETHER, tonight!! A huge smile came across my face almost like it wasn't real. I had to do a double take then realized, yup, we do get to have dinner together, as a family, like we did a few months ago!! And each night this week!! It is real. And he might even be home from work before I am tonight!! He said it only took him about 25 minutes to get to work this morning!!

Praise God! Thank you for your peace and understanding and blessings!!

OK, so I have done something kind of unconventional and what some might think is a big "tacky". I created another baby registry for BP2. Yes, I did. But, not for the reason of a shower, or expecting a shower. More for the reason of having a place to put a "wish-list" of things that we do need for this little boy. You know, the standard towels, clothes, burp cloths, diapers kind of stuff. Boy stuff. The stuff that got worn out with Miss J, the stuff that I know we are going to need and the stuff that worked great with Miss J.

I mean, didn't you find things that you received at the shower that you sure thought would be useful or helpful that turned out to be everything but?!?! And then there are the things that you just loved...that you couldn't do without, that you bought tubs of because you were afraid if you went back when you were out of the said item that they wouldn't have it in stock or would have discontinued it!! Yeah...those are the types of things I registered for.

We have all of the big stuff. We did everything neutral for Miss J knowing we would try for #2 at some point and what if it were a boy!! Well that panned out pretty well. We didn't overdo it with girlie pink stuff, and even the bedding for the crib was neutral enough that BP2 will be just fine with it. If anything, it was a little more masculine than not anyway!!

So, am I crazy. Do you think I am one of those people that now "expects" people to buy things for us? I am pretty sure that some people at work are going to throw a small shower for me. They threw one for all the other ladies who had boy's as their second child...but then again, they may not. Which is fine with me....but in case they do, there is at least a list of ideas for them to buy if they so please. OK, I am crazy. I guess I was just trying to be helpful so as not to receive a TON of useless stuff that I then have to go out of my way to return/exchange. I would even be fine with just gift cards, but some people find that insincere. So this way, rather than having to give a verbal list to people as they begin to ask me "what else do you need for BP2", I can just tell them to check out the registry.

OK, enough obsessing. I did it, it is done. It will either be a world of help, or no one will look at it and it won't matter anyway. At least I didn't do it because I was having another girl!! Which, I have everything for already!! Actually, I would probably still need the basic necessities that wore out or got used up anyway. Oh well!!

I am off to work (actually, probably read some more blogs. I am becoming more and more obsessed with reading peoples blogs, so much more than actually doing my work, which really is starting to wear on my conscious...especially with a job review coming up in September in which I am really hoping for a promotion or good raise...if my boss only knew what I really do all day!!) Then I am off to dinner with DH and DD tonight!! I cannot wait!!

So glad that DH likes his job so far, and that you are so excited for having dinner together tonight (and every night!!).

And no, you are not crazy for doing a registry. I did one too, for this baby and DD2... so don't worry about it. I did have people asking me what I needed, and it was nice to direct them to the registry. It helps to keep the list organized for myself as well, as far as what we still need for when she gets older.

Enjoy your family dinner tonight!!

I'm glad your DH's job seems to be going well and you get to have dinner together!

As for as registering for the baby, I will probably do the same thing. Not that I'm expecting a shower, but my mom and I were talking and she said that showers are more than just to give gifts, it's to celebrate the birth of a new baby and each baby is special and deserves that special time. She will most likely throw me a shower again with this one, although if it's a boy, all we will really "need" is diapers and stuff like that. We are getting a new crib but will probably buy that ourselves and will buy new baby bedding ourselves, so just the basic everyday stuff that we will need for the baby is probably what we'll register for. Anyway..that was a long ramble :)

I hope you enjoy your time with your family tonight!

YAY! I can totally relate on how good it feels to have your family home for dinner. I get so excited when E is home and that we will have an actual dinner together. It is such a blessing that all of this worked out for the both of you!
I don't have kids but I do think it is fine that you regsitered. If anything it helps to see what you do need and if anyone asks you have it organized and ready to go. It is all good!!

So glad dinner is back to the family!

2nd shower - I didn't register - only because Tatum is ONLY 14 months and NOTHING got worn out or is out of date ... we just used it yesterday hahah ... but our moms have bought SO Much blue stuff it isn't funny ... long run - don't think it tacky ... I would have had they been further apart!
