Will it ever end? Miss J being sick that is? It seems like she has a non-stop runny nose that continually leads into draining into her ears which inevitably leads into an ear infection. I am tired of wiping her nose and her cheeks being chapped and her fussing every time we put saline in her nose and suck out the goobers. Ughh, will it ever end.
It did, for a few days in early January. But now...another double ear infection (which I don't think cleared up from the one in December), and bronchiolitis so she is hacking up some nasty thick stuff.
Have I given you guys TMI yet?
Friday, I got a call from the school saying she threw up and had a fever of 101. Took her home, she seemed fine, didn't have a fever...at all (98.6) and just seemed to be her normal self. Thank goodness it was on a Friday, because a fever means she has to stay home for 48hrs unless you have a doctors note.
So I was a bit bummed that I had to leave work early to take care of Miss J. But, oh well...it happens.
She was a bit whiny and annoying all weekend, but she goes through phases so I didn't think anything of it.
Sunday, we skipped church because Miss J was hacking and coughing and I didn't feel right about taking her to Promiseland and leaving her with other kids that might not be in daycare on a regular basis, thus I felt back subjecting those poor kids (and mom's) to a sick kid. That might night at my MIL's she didn't want to eat much (thought it was all the action going on with the football games), she seemed a little warm, but I didn't seem too concerned as she was bundled up and cuddled up by me and she is a little heat box.
1:30 am...DH comes into the room and asks me to feel her head. HOT.
Cracked out the thermometer to do it correctly (by the butt that is), and she had a fever of 101.7. OMGoodness. NEVER has she been that warm.
So we gave her some Tylenol and tried to get her to rest with us. Tossing, turning, hot, cold, fussy...ugh...long night.
Checked her again Monday AM...still 101.5. More Tylenol and I was staying home and going to take her to the doctor to see what was up.
Double ear infection and bronchiolitis. So, she is on a hard antibiotic (and now pro-biotic to counteract the digestive side effects) and breathing treatments via a mister every 4-hours. Poor girl.
Dad is home with her today. MIL coming out tomorrow. And if she still isn't better by Thursday, my mom will watch her.
Funny thing...you would barely notice by they way she is playing and laughing and getting into stuff. She is a bit clingy and fussy, but nothing that says..."Woa...I am sick!" But that is how she has always been. It takes something really bad for her to show that she doesn't feel well. You get little signs like the clingy and fussy and not sleeping through the nights...but for a girl who doesn't talk to tell you what is wrong...you don't know and have to guess what is wrong. It is like a 25% chance that she is sick, over/under tired, growing pains or teething, or just plain being a pain. So, you take a chance and try remedies for one...if they don't work in a couple days, try the next, and so on. Isn't that how mommy-hood is though?
Got to get back to work. Playing catch up from the past 1 1/2 days off work. But I wanted to post and ask for some prayers for my little girl. And for mom/dad who have not been sleeping well and are falling behind on household stuff because all the attention goes to Miss J (which isn't soo bad, until you open the silverware drawer to find a fork and realize they are all in the sink and you have to either wash one (one handed because you are holding Miss J or one eyed because you are watching to be sure she doesn't stick her play cup in the dog water bowl again) or resort to finding a plastic one that you brought home from Chili's take out one night.)
So some prayers this week would be much appreciated!!
Thanks
LP

Poor Miss J! I can imagine how horrible she must feel! I hope she starts to feel better very soon....and then you can hopefully catch a break. It seems like everyone I know is sick, getting sick, or has been sick like crazy lately. It's nuts!
Bless you hearts! I definitely know how you feel. I think we've all been sick since, oh, September!
Grace is the same way. She never complains, but I've learned when she seems a little "off", there's definitely something going on.
I'll say a prayer for Josie (and her mom and dad too!).
I am so sorry about Miss J!! I am sure the past few days have been tough!!
You totally have to go read my blog because we posted almost the exact same thing. If you think 101.7 is high you will fall on the floor when you read what Mia's temp was!!! Mike and I were joking that we haven't been this sleep deprived since we first brought her home!!!
I actually was giving a parent tour today and having the "talk" about childcare and illness, but when it is your own child it is so difficult. I know by next year her illnesses will be cut in half and by the time she is in elementary school she will rarely be sick, but for now it sucks!!!!!
Just know that I feel your pain and I totally understand where you are coming from!!! I hope Miss J is feeling better soon and you and DH can get some sleep!!!
I am so ready for the warm weather to be here so everyone stops getting sick. I hope J ges better soon. And you get some sleep.
I pray that little Miss J is feeling better soon. Emma is sick a lot and it does get very very old, very very quickly! It does help when I give her and allergy medicine in the morning (Brovex D) and a little bit of Benedryl at night. I don't want to turn my daughter into an anithistimine addict, but if I don't give her the meds as soon as her nose starts to barely drip - she is sick and we are at the doctor's office (usually multiple times!).
