Foot in Mouth

I guess sometimes I should just keep my mouth shut. As much as I thought I was being thankful and praising God for my test results, my understanding boss, and my insurance...I guess I should have left the insurance thing out.

Between yesterday and today, I have come to the conclusion that my insurance company HAS NO STINKING CLUE!! They told me two weeks ago that the place I went to have my mammogram and u/s done WAS in-network for my plan. Ok, great, I will go to this place to have them done. Then I had to call them to be sure my plan covers an MRI...come to find out, the place I went to is NOT in-network. WHAT!!! You told me it was, your website also says it is...WTF are you talking about. And beleive it or not, after talking with 3-different people...I am still unsure whether the place is in-network or not. I have no clue...they don't seem to have a clue. So their reply, "well, wait for your claim to come through and if it isn't covered in-network then give us a call and we will see what we can do."

Crap.

Crap in a BIG bucket.

So now I just wait. Oh, and I also have to wait to see if the MRI will possibly be covered or not. They have to pre-certify me, so it could go through (and how funny if I got precertified for the MRI, but when the insurance went to bill, it didn't go through.) With the way my luck is going here, that is probably what will happen.

I guess what gets me is how do they not know? And, why is it that I have to spend ALL this time on the phone calling around checking on things for them? Dumb. But, if that is what I have to do, I will do it so I don't have to incur out-of-network charges that are like 50% or something.

And it is funny, because I hear others in my company talking about how crappy our insurance company is with things like this and how they find a in-network doctor, make the appt, and by the time the appt arrives, they are out of network. That would be a kick in the pants, wouldn't it. So, now it is my turn.

I should just go have it done (and should have had it done) at the hospital, but decided against it to avoid this exact situation. Ugh.

On a better note, Miss J is getting better. We do notice a huge difference from last week, her cough is getting less and her nose isn't running as much and she is sleeping through the night! That is a huge hurray for me!! Nice to catch up on those ZZZ's. My Chiro mentioned that her ongoing runny nose which leads to the persistent ear infection, could be an allergy to milk. I told him that she is on soy, he said that soy is just as allergic as cow's milk. Hmmm, so I started looking into Rice milk or an alternative. Called my ped, and they suggested before going through trial and error with the milk stuff, get an allergry test. So that may be coming up sooner than later. We will see. Patience I guess will have to do for now.

This weekend, family time. We will finish up painting and varnishing the table and chairs for Miss J. Run some errands - we want to get her a shopping cart...she LOVES to push things around on the floor in the kitchen and my hubby thought a little toy shopping cart may be cute. Then Sunday, since we weren't invited anywhere for SuperBowl, we decided to hang out at home. Make some homade salsa, cook some brats, and have family night. And that way, if the game stinks, we don't have to watch it. We don't have anything invested in the teams this year (Last year it was the Bears) so we have nothing to lose. Just hoping for a relaxing weekend to "catch up" on some house stuff.

Have a great weekend. Thanks for your prayers and words of encouragement!!

Oh my goodness! You poor thing, that is so frustrating. Why can't they just make a call or something and find out for sure? I despise insurance companies.

I hope you're able to have a nice relaxing family weekend. You will be in my prayers.

Ugh, I hate dealing with insurance companies. We had a huge problem after Maddy was born. I hope everything gets worked out soon.

Enjoy your weekend with your family.

Sometimes insurance isn't all it's cracked up to be. But heaven forbid if you don't have any - even if it is crappy! Hope you hear something soon. And I am so happy for you that Miss J is feeling better.
