Gosh, I was really expecting a boat-load of replies about my last post. Either everyone is on vacation and not reading blogs...or everyone was too afraid to chime in on their opinions. I respect both...so don't worry.
I ended up just doing the PCV and pushing off the MMR until she is 2yrs old. The doc said that would be the furthest we could push it out. And the Chix Pox, isn't until she is 15months...and I am still not sure what to do about that one. I might just get the vaccine so I don't risk getting it. Hmm, not sure.
Miss J still has a low iron count. Which baffles me. But, what can I do but continue to give her the PolyVi-Sol with Iron and hope next month when she tests again she will be normal. Otherwise, she will have to go on a supplement. Again, seems odd that she would still have low iron at 1yr old. She should be getting all she needs from food (I feed her meat and beans and multi-grain breads), not to mention she was till on formula up till about 2-weeks ago. So, not sure how she would have low iron.
Then, there is the milk allergy that the doc thinks she has. We started giving her whole milk a week before her 1st birthday. And during that week, we noticed more poop than normal, and looser than normal (sorry TMI). But then later in the week we started noticing she was getting uncomfortable, like gassy later in the evening. Like colic symptoms. We stopped giving her whole milk and went back to giving her the 2nd stage formula. Most of her symptoms went away, but she was still fussy at night. We tried to introduce milk again last Saturday (just one meal) and noticed she was real cranky and gassy Sunday night. So the doc thinks she might have a milk allergy, which does not make sense to me. We have been giving her milk based formula, I drank milk when I was nursing, she eats yogurt and cheese and cottage cheese just fine...why would there be something with whole milk that she is allergic to? I don't get it. But we ended up buying some organic soy milk. She seems to like it and has been in a lot better mood. So, that might be it. I will test milk again in a couple of weeks to see if that is it...or if maybe she just had a virus or upset stomach from teething. Who knows...they can't tell you!!
OK, the long awaited pictures from Miss J's 1st birthday. I will post some other pics later!

She is too cute!
I'm sorry I didn't give any insight on ur last post. I have been slacking in keeping up with everyone lately. Plus, I'm not sure what to tell you about all of that, but it sounds like you made a good decesion.
Happy birthday to Josie! Wow! I can't believe it's already been a year. It seems like yesterday I read that you were pregnant, then following along with your pregnancy, reading about the delivery, and now she's already had her very first birthday party. Before I know it, I'll be posting about Brody's. It makes me sad how fast time goes by.
The pics are great! She looks like she had so much fun and she is just so freakin cute!!! The wagon is a great gift...I wanna get Brody one too for his first birthday.
glad the shots went well and that you were able to sort it out. sorry again that i was late commenting... Bloglines doesn't update as fast as I'd like them to.
those pictures are just too cute!! i love it all! what a great idea that was - so creative. i can't wait to have another 1st birthday party some day. aren't they fun?
So cute! I can't believe how much she's changed.
It might not be a milk allergy as much as a mild lactose intolerance. I have mild lactose intolerance so I am able to handle consumption of dairy to a point...once I consume too much I have the same symptoms you're seeing you Miss J. (In case you don't know yogurt would not count against her total dairy intake for lactose purposes as the way it is processed removes the issue.) If the Soy milk works great, if not try a small thing of Lactaid milk and see if that solves the problem. :)
She is so adorable - what a cutie pie!! The pictures are so sweet and I love the theme of the party! Looks like she has a very fun time!!
Have a great day - TGIF tomorrow!!
Lisa :O)
I'm not sure about the whole milk thing either. Makes me wonder about Mackenna when she gets to the point of drinking milk instead of formula. She has been on Isomil formula since she was just a month old or so. So......
Anyway, I enjoyed looking at Miss J's birthday pictures (again). :p She is so adorable. Take care!
P.S. I was at work yesterday when you called. That's why I didn't answer. :o) But it was very thoughtful of you to be thinking of Mackenna and I. She seems to be doing much better, thank you. :o)
Aww, precious!
Such cute pictures! I love the petting zoo!
I'm so glad to get to see pictures from her 1st birthday party! I LOVE the theme. Too cute! Thanks for sharing. She's so adorable. :)
