11.11

pounds and ounces that is...JW is 11lbs 11oz today, his 2-month birthday!! I can't believe he is that heavy already...but explains why our arms hurt if we carry him too long!!

He is also 23in...going to be a tall boy! I need to look back and see what Miss J was at 2-months. I think she was shorter, but probably the same weight, maybe less. Oh, how fun to compare!!

So...I still need some tricks of the trade to get Miss J to sleep in past 5am!!! I don't know what the heck her deal is. No matter what time we put her to bed at night...she is up at 5am. We keep asking her why she is up so early and last night she told us it was because of the moose! Haa, the moose in her closet. DH and I looked at each other and were very confused. So she kept talking about the moose that wakes her up. So daddy went in at bedtime and he and Miss J "shot" all the moose in her closet and put them in daddy's room. I say "shot" because DH took this little mini (real) gun that was his great-grandfathers and "shot" the moose. I know, doesn't sound real safe now does it? But it almost looks like a squirt gun, how small it is, and all it did was click. It was cute...really!

But, she was still up at 5am this morning. I guess it wouldn't bother me so much if JW wasn't up at 4am, and I bring him into our room to try to get him to sleep a bit longer before we have our first "meal" of the day...but then Miss J comes into our room at 5am to wake us up!! Ugh.

We try to ask her to stay in her room and read or listen to music until mom or dad comes in to get her. But the first time we tried that, she came in our room with no pants (or diaper) and said she needed help putting her diaper back on. I went into her room to find she had poopy in her diaper and tried to clean herself...which is fine, if she did it on a changing pad or something and not on the bare carpet!!! yeah...not pretty. So we gave her one exception and told her that if she was poopy she NEEDED to get mom or dad to change her first. Well, now she comes in even if she is just wet. So...

It doesn't bother me too much either during the week. I have to be up before 6am...so that gives me a chance to shower with her in the AM then feed JW and get ready. It is on the weekends when I could really use to catch up that it drives us the most nuts!!

I think the colic is getting better with JW. Either he is better, or we have figured out how to tolerate the crying or how to calm him better. Not sure...but last week seemed a lot better at night. No long spurts of crying in the evening. And even if he did, we were able to calm him a little better. He has been going down around 6pm and sleeping until sometime between 9pm and 12am...then I feed him again before I go to bed (I actually fall asleep on the couch about 8pm until he wakes up), and then he is up fussing at 3/4am at which time I bring him into our room until I am ready to feed him around 6am (sometimes he doesn't last that long, but most the time he falls right back to sleep). So... that is a pretty good routine I think. I am still exhausted though...I cannot wait until I can feed him at 10pm and then go to bed until 6am. I know it is coming...hopefully in the next month!!

He is doing pretty good at school too. Not sleeping great during the day (he doesn't on the weekends either). He has little spurts of anywhere between 15 min and an hour or so. I guess the wake time will start to increase during the days...so that might be some of it. I know that the minute I see a yawn or a bit of fussiness...I have to put him right down or he is a bear to put down to nap. It is that small window that if I get him in his crib, he can put himself to sleep and sleep pretty well. Otherwise, he is napping in the swing or bouncy.

Oh...but the fun of an infant!! I think this next month will bring some big changes. He is already smiling up a storm, cooing and laughing and gurgling. He smiles at his big sister. He gets so excited his feet start kicking and arms start going! We call him bobble head because sometimes when we are burping him his head bobbles around (he is trying to lift it up). We have to pull out some of the old toys from Miss J and get him playing.

I wish I could post some pics...but for some reason I can't copy pictures from my snapfish account here at work any more...they must have changed security or something. If I get a chance at home, I will post some new ones. They are too cute!

Have a great week!

Ohhhh....I wanted pictures ;-( Oh well! I can so relate to the "way too early in the morning" thing. Emmaline gets up early constantly! But I don't think Emma has ever told me she has a moose in her closet. That is too funny!!! I am glad JW seems to be improving. Have a great week yourself!

Wow, 5am! I'm not looking forward to getting up before 7 again!! :o) Thankfully this stage only lasts a little while....hopefully, for your sake!

I'm glad both the kiddos are doing well! I think the "shooting a moose" is the cutest thing ever, even if it didn't work. How creative! What a good daddy!

Can't wait to see new pictures!

So glad the colic seems to be better - I wish that were the case here.
Bowden woke up 6 times Sunday night. What really sucks is to calm him down at all requires us to feed him ... seems that the full belly relieves some of the pressure or hurt. So the takeing him to our bed or the rocking is out ... still 3 bottle a night.
Last night he went down at 9 up at 12 then 3:45 then 6 - we are 4 months old I hope it gives soon or I will loose my mind.

Good luck with the 5 am wake up ... I am not sure how to prolong that.
