James 5:13-15

The Prayer of Faith

Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.

And this, girls, is what we will be doing for my FIL this Sunday. My IL's small group has gotten together and are getting a pastor from our church to come down so we can all pray over him and anoint him with oil.

The last time my FIL had cancer (he was in remission for over 5-years), we all went to Elders prayer after communion one night at church and we all prayed over him, the Elder anointed his head with oil...it was an amazing experience for him (and me). So we all feel this was a HUGE turning point in his recovery at that time. So we are praying it will have the same effects this time.

Lots of prayers are needed. Not only for his healing, but for his mind. He has been couped up in this hospital room/bed for 5-weeks now. You know what that can do to a mind? You know how easy Satan can attack you? He is very depressed, can't walk (because he is so swollen and has zero muscle mass from being in bed so long), he can't eat because they are trying to cure a disease that he has in his gut. He is not doing anything normal...and it is depressing and humiliating. I could not imagine it. So please, if you say a special prayer this week for him, ask that his mind be renewed, that his faith be restored, and that God would take control of his heart and thoughts and bring him back to thinking positive.

On another note...I am weighing in at noon today. I really feel like I made a huge jump this week. We will see. I will let you know this afternoon.

I will say a prayer for your father-in-law and hope that he has the same success beating cancer the second-time around. I can imagine how hard it is for all of you.

Good luck with your weigh-in today!

I will say a prayer for your FIL and the rest of his family. I know it's not easy being in the hospital like that and it's not easy being the family who has to watch him suffer either. They will all be in my thoughts.

My family is struggling with something similar. I'll say a prayer that the prayer session is a turning point for your FIL. God bless.

I will definitely be praying for your FIL. My grandfather was in the hospital for 11 months last year! ugh......I do understand.

I just said a prayer for him - prayed for exactly what you asked us to! I hope everything works out ok and that this is another wonderful experience just like the last time.

Of course, you can count on our prayers for your FIL. I hope this prayer session can lift his spirits and help his body as well.
