Hi.
Yes, I am still here. (I only fell off the world for a day or so) but the rest of it has just been blatant neglect. I honestly have been trying not to do too much web surfing at work and spend more time focusing on work (hmmm, novel idea) and since they have changed our secrurity so now when you go to a blog site you get a warning that you are infact going to a blog site and the corporate policy does not support this but if you think you really want to go to this site...you can. So I get fearful that each time I click OK...I am being monti0red. Rightfully so...I shouldn't be surfing while working anyway...unless you are a surf instructor!
Not to mention none of you really "blog" any more anyway...you are all doing FB or Twitter or one of those other crazy forms of keeping every one up to date about every minute of your life. I don't have an account for either, so you won't see me there. Thanks for asking about me though...miss you guys!!
So what is going on with me, with us, with the P family?
Oh, nothing really. Same old same old in and out up an down...am I sounding like Dr. Suess now?
A summary of what has been going on in our lives, in no particular order except as they come to my mind.
JW will be 17 months old on the 8th of March...he blows my mind every day. Though he is definitely behind in the words as compared to Miss J, he makes up for it in stubborness!! This kid will continue to go back to the dog bowl over and over again. Like he enjoys getting his hand slapped and yelled at to "NOT TOUCH THE DOG WATER!!!" He continues...stubborn, and he knows it too. You know, that little sly look he gives me when I tell him NO, then he slowly brings his hand closeer, and closer, just to see if I am going to drop everything I am doing and run over there...just as he runs away laughing. Devil child I tell you...I don't think we would have had two kids if this was our first!! Thank you God for giving us a grace filled one first.
Oh, but wait...did I say grace filled one first...HAAAAA...the two kids I am sure team up and decide how to annoy and push all the buttons of mom and dad...EVERY DAY!! Miss J is 3years old going on 6. She used to be such an angel, but now...wild child. Loud. Constantly singing at the top of her lungs (which I think is because the music teacher at school always tells them to sing louder!). She is ALWAYS talking and rambling on and on about whatever like she is in a contest to see how many words she can say in a minute...but that minute goes on for hours!! Ahh, but she loves her little brother. To see them hug when one of them is crying or gets hurt is just sooo stinking sweet!!
I have officially begun leading a Mom's small group and we are reading "A Woman after God's own Heart" by Elizabeth George. Exciting to have a great group of mom's, all with baby/toddler/preschool age kids, and to all have a great wonderful heart and passion for God!!
Hubby just started having to work a couple of nights a week, and most likely a Saturday. The shop he works at is adding night and weekend hours in order to be more competitive in the automotive service industry. This will be an interesting change in our home dynamics...but it is still unsure if this means more hours for same pay or what...his boss is not very communicative about the details and pretty much finds it funny when he tells my hubby at 4:30pm on a Friday that he will be taking the next two weeks off for vacation. Not like it would change anything my hubby can do...but isn't it just common curtosy to communicate that kind of stuff. Not for him...we are praying that God will lead this change and help our family to adjust.
Oh...my 35th birthday is tomorrow. Whew...when did that happen?
It was the 9th anniversary of my father's passing on the 16th of February.
It would have been my father's 68th bithday on the 13th of March.
It would have been my father in-laws 65th bithday today.
I am REALLY looking foward to spring, when I can get outside to garden and feel the sun on my face again...oh, and wear cute summer clothes!!
I have starting running 3 miles a day on the treadmill to kick it up a notch...need to fit into those cute summer clothes. I have 5lbs to lose and I think I will be comfy in those pre-preggo, pre-marriage clothes I used to wear!
We have started D*ave Rams*ey's Total Money Makeover. If you don't know what it is, g00gle it. In short...we are trying to get completely out of debt and be able to free up our money so we can do fun things with it rather than pay off stupid APR's and bills!! Part of this means selling a LOT of stuff. Including our new GMC Yukon we got a year ago. We decided we really don't need it and that my hubby can get away with driving his 2-seater pick up for a few months, maybe more, until we can pay off/down some credit cards. Plus, we had a bunch of garage sales, and I have been selling lots of clothes/toys to Once Upon a Child and getting lots-o-money!! It is a nice feeling. We aren't balanced yet, we still have more going out than coming in...which only continues the vicious cycle....but we have a goal! Hard, seeing there was a reason hubby and I had two separate checking accounts...because we couldn't agree on how to spend our money...oh, and we both had bad spending habits. Some use food as a crutch, some use alcohol...we used shopping...oh, and the other two too (he he he). We are on a roll and it is nice to have a mutual goal!!
My one word for the year is "WISDOM". If you don't know what that is all about, check out this site.
I am abstaining from the 3-C's for lent and for a 30-day prayer for our church. What are the 3-C's...Cake, Cookies, and Candy. Pretty much sugar...but the 3-C's cover most of that stuff. So far so good...I am amazed that I haven't been CRAVING everything under the sun...but that is OK because I am making up for it with carbs...which ironically turn into sugar...oh well!!
Miss J has been on a gluten/yeast/dairy/sugar free diet for 6-weeks now. We think she may have a sensitivity to one or all of these and trying to rid her body of the bad bacteria and fill it with good. You know, that whole pro-biotic stuff. It has been an interesting adventure, and come to find out she does have an excema flare up after she each sugar stuff (you know...those 3-C's). The hope is to rebalance out her gut. And then she should be OK to eat those foods again. I thought this was going to be tough, and I guess at first it was, but since she has ebraced it soo much and I have become creative in making things and found foods to buy...it has been going well. I am going to do 2-3 weeks more, then slowly start to introduce one thing at a time and see if I notice her excema flare up again, or an increase in her skin sensitivity (she gets bumps all over her cheeks and legs and arms.) Good times!!
JW is on his 3rd ear infection in a row...this time with a double (so would that count as 4th??) And now I am on a mission to prove the Chiropractic adjustments reduce and improve ear infections. We are doing the anti-biotics, but also doing adjustments to try and drain the fluid in his ears so that it doesn't stay there to cause yet another ear infection...which then would lead us to the ENT and possibly down the road to tubes. If that is the road that needs to be taken, we will, but I want to go down the Chiro path and prove that it worked for my daughter and will work for my son too!!
Did I say I can't wait until spring is here!!
We went to Oklahome City again in January to see my grandpa. This time it was a road trip with the kids and my mom and me. Ooooo, long trip. My mother does not handle stress very well and I don't handle her reaction to stress very well. It was a VERY tough week. The kids had fun though and I think grandpa loved seeing the kids...along with all the other people in the memory care home enjoyed seein the kids. It was my grandpa's 85th birthday.
I think I will end this post with some pictures...and then won't be back for a few months...kidding...but really, who knows. Taking it one day at at time.
