I know, I know...I just posted. But this is just so darn easy. I was just thinking, as I was perusing all the past Nestie's blogs.
I was clicking through all of your links to other blogs (Nestie or not) and thinking to myself...wouldn't it be bazaar to find a link to a blog of a friend or family member of yours that you never knew they knew? Here I am trying to remain somewhat hush hush about my identity because I don't want my friends/family finding my blog (especially with the post I just posted). But with Blogspot being so huge, I would not doubt that at some point, paths may cross. On the Nest, I felt like there was a low fence surrounding our community (I know I was not fully in the clear), but now I feel so much more open and wonder how far this spider web can spread.
So, do I go to "invite only"? I don't know. I don't really like having to log on every time I want to view someone's web and the thought of having to send emails to everyone that wants to be in contact with my blog...just seems like a lot of work to keep up with. And I like the idea of another Nestie, who may know one of the Nesties, but not me, can find my blog via their link and who knows...we may become great friends or I may have some influence on their life that I don't know. So, do I go completely underground? Or just watch my p's and q's for the most part. Actually, the more I think about the "gossip" I was spreading below, the more I question how Christian-like any of it really is. Where is the line between gossip and venting? Hmmm.
P.S. After I posted, I went to view this and realized...crap...I posted it on Miss J's family blog!!! Yea, the one that I keep for family and friends to view updates of Miss J. Arrrggg, what am I going to do...it is deleted now, but what a stupid error.

I have definitely struggled with the question of making my blog password-protected (which would basically have the same effect as invite-only) and leaving it open. For the time being I opted to leave it open because I like the idea of Nestie friends and new readers who are interested in my story being able to find me and interact with me. it's a tough balance though because there are some people who I know in real life that have the link and I sometimes feel like I have to watch what I say!
I hope you, JP, and Miss J are all doing well!
since i made my blog invite only - i dont have to log-on to anyones blog anymore - i just got the vip ticket right through...so that might be a perk! i felt 'safer' at the nest and this is so big, i c an see why you would think about it.
I feel the same way. I made my blog private because there were some things I didn't want to share with the entire world. It wasn't that difficult and as long as you tell your loyal readers that you are going "underground" they will contact you so that you can add them. Once they do that the process is really simple.
I'm not invite only but I have struggled with that decision. I do worry that family and friends could find it and so I don't vent like I want to sometimes. I had a HUGE vent this past week but didn't say anything for fear someone would read it. It's tough because you have you blog for your feelings. So it's up to you completely how you decide to do it. Good luck with your decision and I want and invite if you leave!
I always liked the idea that someone could stumble across my blog and become a faithful reader. Like just the other day, someone left a comment on my blog saying that they were a "lurker" of my nest blog and that they followed me here. She really enjoyed reading about my faith and family life! That was amazing to me! To find that there was someone out there that I didn't know of who thought my blog and the things I had to say were interesting enough to continue to come back and "check up" on me. :o) I would watch my p's and q's. You never know if ther's someone out there like that.....like you said. :o)
I have thought the same thing about making my site password protected but I always decide against it in the end b/c I like to surf different blogs & figure others might do the same. I do get a little worried b/c even Kevin is not allowed to read (I've told him!) even though I know he knows the link & where it is. I just trust he'll stay out. Hopefully I don't have to worry about my SIL or others finding it though!
Love the picture of the P family :) Miss J is getting so big! Hope you are doing great L :) Talk to you soon :)

Hi LP,
I am glad I found you!!! I know what you mean about trying to keep your blog somewhat private. I don't think anyone really knew about my Nest blog, but blogspot is so big that I too worry.
Please come visit me at my new blog.

OMG how ironic is THAT, that you posted the "should I go private to keep this blog a secret" post on your public one! I hope nobody saw that post the couple seconds it was up! Just FYI - you only have to log on once and then all the links to your friends' private blogs (and vice versa - their link to your blog) will go through ok because the computer recognizes that it's you trying to access the person's blog and that you have permission to view it. Just other people may not be able to get into all the links of your friends' blogs, unless they have been invited. But that would be the case regardless of whether your blog is private or not. Does this make any sense or am I being confusing? I went private, and I would say it's totally your call - do you want to make SURE you know who is and who is not seeing your blog? I know I wanted to make sure. It's my place to "vent" to online friends who don't know my day to day friends and family. The choice is totally yours! But if you do go private, I'd like an invite please :-)
I've been wondering the same things you have, about whether to make my blog private or not. There are certain things I'd like to vent about, but I have to end up 'editing' my post and leaving those details out, "just incase". I have that sitemeter on my blog, and it tells me the location of readers and what not... I've noticed there are locations on there from areas where I have friends/family (Pittsburgh, columbus), but they're such big cities, it could be anyone. Then you have the ones where it doesn't GIVE a location, so again, it COULD be someone who knows me. I mean, really... my blog is "Betsy Hunt" at blogspot. Not that hard to search for... lol. So I dunno what to do. It seems like every once in awhile I stumble on someone who has a link to my blog, and I feel bad because I've never even known about THEIR blog before. It's those reasons why I kinda hate to make my blog private. Grr... decisions, decisions. Just make sure I get an invite if you go private! :-)
